Minnesota Home Staging Hazard

As owner of a Minnesota staging company, there are a few additional obstacles that we need to face during the winter time that stagers from other areas of the country do not experience:

  • Icy roads
  • Chilly fingers
  • Parking restrictions

There is, however, one avoidable hazard that homeowners can easily remedy that protects their beloved stagers while welcoming potential buyers...

HOMEOWNERS: Let's keep those driveways, steps, and sidewalks shoveled! Buyers do not want to walk around in your house with wet feet!

Kristina Your picture is worth a 1000 words.  Great advice!

You also have a harder time getting a buyer to sing a contract on your home if their arm's in a cast from falling on your steps! Good reminder kristina!

Good advice.  I have never hired a staging company but It does seem to be something more and more realtors are starting to use for their impossible to sell houses.

Kristina ~ Good tip! And common sense really.  You don't need people slipping and falling their way to your front door.

Great topic Kristina.  Winter weather certainly brings its challenges when staging doesn't it?  Do you still have a lot of snow?  Ours has melted now - it has been pretty mild but they are calling for snow again this weekend I think.  Hurry up Spring!

This is huge especially those little pockets of black ice. Now that can kill a deal if not a human. Be careful

Charlene:  We have between 4 - 8 inches of snow, depending on where you go.  We are expecting more this weekend.  If it's going to be cold, it might as well snow to make things look pretty!

Here in the Buffalo, NY area, I could not agree with you more. Shoveling clear paths for the stagers and for potential buyers is very helpful.

Kristina--It is a home showing nightmare too! And liability if someone falls and gets seriously hurt. Shovel and salt those steps please!

Many homeowners forget to shovel their vacant homes.  When I check on a vacant staging of mine in the winter, I always bring a shovel with me.  I will get the steps, but I will let the homeowner do the driveway.

Kristina I feel your pain.  Here in Calgary we have the same problems you do in Saint Paul.  Luckily for us we do get the occasional Chinook (the temp rises quickly and the warm wind from the mountains melts everything in sight) which helps.  Betty
